She graduated from Boston College with a degree in Business and Marketing. After a several year stint in Retail Buying for Filene’s, she went back to school to earn her teaching degree.
She was granted her Master’s in Business Education from Central Connecticut State University in 1996. She then went into teaching Business Education at the High School and College levels. While pregnant with her third baby, she made the switch to teaching Computer Applications to grades K through 8 at St. John School here in Old Saybrook. It was then she began her exploration of Pilates.
She began working out at Pilates on Main when it first opened in the Fall of 2004. She completed her STOTT Training in Essential and Intermediate Mat in November 2005. She has been teaching at the studio, now Pure Body Pilates, since then. Over the following years she has taken many STOTT workshops, including the Advanced Mat Training in May 2008. Ruthanne hopes the add to her teaching expertise by completing the training on the Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels this year. She also completed 24 hours of training in the Active Isolated Stretching Method in January 2008.
